The Wired for Greatness Student Store was created in honor of Michelle Nowak, who believed that every student is "wired for greatness." This special program encourages creativity and entrepreneurship by allowing students to design, create, and sell their own items in a school store held at least twice a year.

Spofford Pond students have the opportunity to apply for a grant to help fund materials needed for their projects. These grants, funded by the BPTO and awarded by teachers, provide extra support for budding student entrepreneurs. Participation in the store, however, is open to all students, with or without grant support.

Through this initiative, students gain valuable hands-on experience in creativity, business, and collaboration while celebrating their achievements with the school community.

We are excited to announce the next round of the Wired for Greatness grant cycle! Thanks to the generous support of the BPTO, Spofford students have the opportunity to apply for a grant to fund a project, small business, or movement they wish to start! If your child is interested in applying for a grant, please click the link below. The application deadline is March 6th
If your child is not randomly selected, they will still have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming school store in May by completing the non-grant application that is coming out after 3/6.

Frequently Asked Questions

-I have a question about the WFG grant program, who should I contact?- For any questions about the WFG grant program or the school store, please reach out to Vanessa Hickey:  vhickey@boxfordschools.org (formally Ms. Boyle).

-Do I have to fill out a grant application if I don’t need money for my project? - No, do not fill out a grant application if you don’t need money to fund your idea, instead, wait for the non-grant application to come out and fill that one out instead.

-I didn’t get a grant, can I still sell at the school store?- Yes, just wait for the non-grant application to come out.

-Do I have to make a sign? -Yes, in order to keep everything in order and to help customers, every student must make a price sign that also includes their name. Signs should be no larger than 8x11. Items should also be individually labeled with a price and your inventory number (an inventory # will be assigned to you).

-Can my child work with a friend or sibling?- Yes! Profit checks will be split between each participant (unless otherwise noted on the application).

-Does my child get to keep all their profits from the school store?- Yes! Students will receive a check for all of their profits. They are also encouraged to donate 10% back to the WFG Grant Program.

-How much money should I send in with my child on the day of the store?- This is completely up to you, but most items are under $10.

-Does my child have to sell something at the school store in order to receive a grant?- No. Students are encouraged to think big and take on any idea they are passionate about! If they use their grant money for something other than creating merchandise for the school store, they are asked to create a poster that showcases what they did with their grant money. The poster will be displayed at the school store.
