PTO Events

The Boxford PTO sponsors a variety of family events to help promote a closer relationship between the home and school. These events include the following:

  • Fall Fundown is a family barbecue held in mid-September. Entertainment is provided and our very own principals, school staff and volunteers dish up food It is a great time to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.
  • Spaghetti Supper is a family dinner coordinated by the Families C.A.R.E. Committee held in November or December. Family entertainment is geared around the core C.A.R.E. values of respect and excellence. In the spirit of a community supper, the PTO provides the pasta entree and the attendees are asked to bring salad, bread, drink or dessert to be shared among those sitting at the same table.
  • Bingo is a family fun event held each February where everybody goes home a winner.
  • Sporting and Cultural Events are coordinated by PTO volunteers. Discounted tickets are obtained and offered to all families within the elementary schools. These tickets include the Lowell Spinners, Lock Monsters and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
  • Talent Show - A family fun night where the children are the stars of the show. Children in groups or as individuals get a chance to perform and show their diverse talents.

Spaghetti Supper

Spaghetti SupperThe Annual Families C.A.R.E. Supper will be held in on November 30 at Spofford Pond School.

Last year, over 200 people gathered together for a meal of pasta, salad, bread and dessert. Children played and parents had a chance to reconnect with each other before and during the meal.

After dinner Bob Bloom from Drumming About You captivated the attention of both children and parents as he encouraged everybody to sing, dance or play an instrument to the beat of their own drum. Bob first introduced the audience to different rhythms from around the world: Africa, North America, Brazil and Cuba. Then he distributed different percussion instruments to everybody who wanted to join in so they could make music along with his beat: drums (all different sizes and shapes), maracas ("fruit" shakers), and finally castanets. At the end, Bob had all the children moving to the rhythm as they twirled colorful handkerchiefs around themselves making a beautiful kaleidoscope of bodies.

Thank you to all who attended, for your contributions and your help in making this evening a success!
